Banned Society
About:
Banned Society is a dynamic collective, which includes at least 13 different musicians on each of their records.
Members: sound producer Dima Maltsev is the collective’s engine, powered by lo-fi and hip-hop. Neo-soul singer and jazz enthusiast Lola Kolosovska calls herself ‘a magnet for weird sounds and real people’. The fiery Hell Drummy, young singer-songwriter Lucas Bird, a guitar & bass player Tavi, and Dima’s little sister and backing MC Zhenia Maltseva are also part of the collective. L’Officiel magazine called their 3rd LP I Was Stupid, Now I’m Not the album of the day, and the online Ukrainian news site NV called it one of the best releases of the month. Aprize Awards long-listed Banned Society’s debut album Candy as ‘the best Ukrainian album of the year’.
International experience and international collaborations:
- The band’s first album was recorded in Poland.
- The albums Candy, Homies, and I Was Stupid, Now I’m Not include collaborations with musicians from the USA, Canada, and Poland.
