Oleksii Botvynov
About:
Oleksii Botvynov is a pianist, musical activist, and producer. He has performed solo and with leading orchestras in over 45 countries, and is instrumental in bringing new Ukrainian music to the European stage. Botvynov is a founder and president of the Odesa Classics music festival. In 1993 Botvynov started his international career as a pianist and soloist with top orchestras, playing up to 50 concerts per year. Between 2009 and 2010 he was Artistic Director of the Odesa National Opera Theatre. In 2019 Botvynov and violinist Daniel Hope made a duet recording of Alfred Schnittkeās music for the record label Deutsche Grammaphon.

International collaboration:
In 2015 Botvynov founded a new international music festival, Odesa Classics, and became its president and artistic director. The annual festival has been a sensation and has become one of the most important classical music events in Ukraine and one of the leading classical festivals in Eastern Europe. Artists who have performed there include the Zurich, Berlin, and Brussels Chamber Orchestras; Daniel Hope; Mischa Maisky; Maxim Vengerov; Matthias Goerne; Zakhar Bron; Sebastian Knauer; and Cyprien Katsaris, among others.
