Oleksii Kogan

Oleksii Kohan’s name has been associated with jazz music among listeners, spectators, and music lovers in Ukraine and abroad for many years now. Oleksii Kohan is a well-known radio journalist and producer; he is art director of the Jazz in Kyiv Centre; art director of the Leopolis Jazz Fest; and is holder of Poland’s highest cultural award, the Order for Merit for Polish Culture.

 

His voice is highly recognisable in the community as since 1991 he has hosted over 10,000 radio programmes on the radio stations Promin, Kontinent, Nostalgie, Supernova, Music Radio, Era FM and the online radio stations Aristocrats and Old Fashioned Radio. Currently he is working on a jazz radio programme, Music Lover’s Hour, on radio Promin. Oleksii Kogan is a member of the International Jazz Association of Journalists, and is author of over 700 newspaper and magazine articles in Ukraine, Poland, and the USA. In 2014 and 2015, he released the radio programme ‘Jazz with Oleksii Kogan: Jazz Stories’ in two parts, describing them as: ‘uncontrived stories of one radio host meeting with outstanding jazz musicians’. In 2020, Oleksii Kogan founded the online music group ‘It’s Jazzy’.
