The Castle

About:

The Castle is a Ukrainian music group based in Lviv. The question to ask about this band, however, is not ‘where’ are they from, but ‘when’? With a distinctive 60s vibe, their music takes listeners to a place before hip hop and synthesisers. Following the great tradition of garage rock, their songs are inspired by the music of David Bowie, Pink Floyd, and Miles Davis and are usually made and produced at home.

In 2015 The Castle released its debut single ‘Water Guns,’ a dreamy ballad with a psychedelic sound. The release gained good reviews from the Ukrainian press and the music video reached over 30,000 views on YouTube. The same year the band performed at Atlas Weekend festival in Ukraine. In November 2019 they released their EP Juvenile, whose surreal aesthetics drew the attention of the Ukrainian, French, Italian, and Japanese press. The album was released alongside two music videos directed by Maks Blahov. In May 2020, the Castle performed at Intercity Live 2.0 and on the Lito music channel.
